Ancient Romans used this leaf as a room deodorizer as well as for cooking. When 'mint' is called for in savoury recipes, it is spearmint that should be used. It has a lower menthol content and a lighter, sweet taste.
Suggested uses aside from the typical mint sauce for lamb or sprinkled on peas, try it in yogurt with parsley and lemon for a great sauce or dip.
